Freescale Semiconductor was a major American semiconductor company specializing in embedded processors, microcontrollers (MCUs), automotive chips, and networking solutions. Founded in 2004 as a spin-off from Motorola's semiconductor division, Freescale became a leader in automotive and industrial electronics before being acquired by NXP Semiconductors in 2015 for $11.8 billion(merging to form one of the largest embedded solutions providers).
